Mitchell Perrin is a junior at Gorham High School. He enjoys singing
lead with his friends in $1800 Shoes and being coached by Paul
Stickney. Mitchell sings in the Gorham High School Chamber Singers, and enjoys
performing in the Gorham High School musical in the spring. He also enjoys
wakeboarding, Boy Scouts, photography, prom committee, watching movies
and designing the web site for $1800 Shoes.
Ian Hawkes is an honor student at Gorham High School. In addition to
singing bass in $1800 Shoes, Ian plays the clarinet in the
Portland Youth
Wind Ensemble and loves performing on stage in both community and high
school dramas and musicals. He is an Eagle Scout who enjoys drawing and
writing, and also plays a wicked ukulele.
Andrew Ernest, who is a junior at Gorham High School, thoroughly enjoys
singing bari and hanging out with his talented friends in $1800 Shoes. He
appreciates the excellent musical coaching by Paul Stickney and the
overwhelming support from the Downeasters. When not singing, Andrew enjoys
soccer, Boy Scouts, sailing, cooking (or is it eating?), watching movies
and riding his bike around North Haven Island.
Jonas Rimkunas (pronounced "YO-noss") is a 16-year-old junior at Gorham High School. He's been
singing with the
Boy Singers of Maine since third grade. He sings tenor
in the Gorham High School Chamber Singers with the other members of the quartet and
enjoys acting in the Gorham High School musical each spring. He also sings with
his family group "Sibling Revelry" during the summer months. $1800 Shoes
is his favorite singing ensemble.
The quartet is often asked how they got their name. Jonas explains it this way: "I was shopping for shoes at a Salvation Army Thrift Shop. The shoes were $20 (pricey for a thrift shop) but of obviously high quality. When I got them home, a slip of paper fell out of one of the shoes. It revealed that the shoes were custom Italian imports, and originally cost $1800!"
