Mach 4
Mach 4 formed in late 2021 and had a busy 2022. They have performed at the Yarmouth Clam Festival, sung the National Anthem at Hadlock Field for the Portland Sea Dogs, as well as some private events. In October 2022 they represented the Downeasters at the Northeastern District Convention of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) covering all of New England and Eastern Canada, and at that debut contest, they were awarded second place.
Port City Sound is recognized as one of the finest seniors quartets in the the Barbershop Harmony Society, having placed as high as 12th in the international Seniors Quartet Championships . They have had the good fortune to win a number of local and regional championships, garnering numerous standing ovations along the way.
The quartet achieved world -wide attention when they performed an impromptu song requested by a flight attendant while aboard a flight delayed at Reagan International Airport on the way to the International Seniors Quartet Championships. Her video recording of the performance went viral and to date has garnered more than 9.7 million viewings.
