Fostering personal, musical, and community growth and connection through shared vocal harmony.
This Mission Statement is deliberately crafted to contain six core pillars or ideas that guide the chorus and our membership.
Personal Growth
The chapter and chorus should be a safe and comfortable environment that encourages members and guests to learn about and celebrate different perspectives and ways of life. The constant refinement of interpersonal skills is critical for chapter sustainability, member satisfaction and retention, and public perception.
Personal Connection
The chapter and chorus should be a place where members and guests are able to form new and meaningful relationships that last a lifetime and can extend beyond the world of barbershop. This level of connection allows for more authentic musical performances.
Musical Growth
The chapter and chorus should always strive to improve the musical product we present to the world, through the use of the many resources we have at our disposal including coachings, personal vocal instruction programs, encouraging personal accountability, and standards-setting. This improvement can and should be measured through objective and subjective means including contest results, public feedback, and internal satisfaction.
Musical Connection
Barbershop music can offer a particularly unique experience to the performer when compared to other vocal styles. The artform encourages and celebrates authentic performances, which allows barbershop singers to connect with the music and audiences on a deeper level. Four-part barbershop harmony can also evoque a certain physical response as a result of its unique harmonic structure and form.
Community Growth
The chapter and chorus should be constantly broadening our base of local support and encouraging programs that further the goals of our organization. The more people we can share our music with, the more impact we can have in our local area.
Community Connection
In addition to expanding and strengthening our local community, the chapter and chorus should build strong and symbiotic relationships with local organizations and individuals. It is critical that the chapter is seen as an important and unique community asset, with a specific product and experience to offer. Deep community roots will ensure lasting health and success of this organization.
